Selecting a Spray Gun

Please refer to below information when selecting a spray gun:

Spray Gun Selection – Different Feed Types:

  • Pressure feed type is often suitable in a Large Production Volume environment whereby spraying one colour with a high volume of paint, together with paint pump or paint pressure, helps clients / painters to have a stable and consistent production.

  • Suction feed type is suitable for spraying with small /medium size paint. It is also good for frequent colour changes. Spray gun can stand upright with paint container attached even if there is no gun holder.

  • Side Cup (Gravity Feed) type is suitable for spraying with small / medium size paint. The key advantage of side cup is to allow the painter to rotate the cup. This means the painter can spray at any angle. Also, visibility of paint performance is better than with other types.

  • Center Cup (Gravity feed) works very well with high viscosity paint such as Water-Based paint thanks to it’s better fluidity compared to other technologies.

Key Features of Low Pressure Spray Guns:

  • Definition of low pressure spray gun: Inner air pressure inside air cap must be less than 0.07MPa.
  • The exclusive design of air cap, nozzle and spray gun body can keep inner air flow very low. This contributes to higher transfer efficiency and less overspray. Less overspray results in an improved working environment and reduction of maintenance time. This can reduce 20-30% of paint consumption according to our internal tests.
  • Why does transfer efficiency improve with low pressure?
  • – Because paint is being sprayed with less force, paint can attach to object more easily.
  • – Low pressure type is designed to obtain larger paint particles than general atomization type. The low pressure spray gun can control small paint particles better and reduce overspray to achieve better transfer efficiency.
Low Pressure spray guns

Important to note when using low pressure spray guns:

If you increase the inlet air pressure more than the recommended pressure setting, the benefit of a low pressure spray gun will be compromised significantly.

However if you use a low pressure gun with higher inlet air pressure than our recommendation, the paint atomization is higher than general atomization air cap type. * Please note that this setup does not function as low pressure then.

Atomization:

  • We have 2 types of air caps – High Atomization type and General (Standard) Atomization type.
  • High Atomization air cap is highly recommended for most customers.
  • However, whether to choose high atomization cup depends on the paint, painted surface and customers specific needs / requirements.
  • High atomization basically causes the reduction of transfer efficiency.
  • The general atomization air cap is a better option for paint saving and reduction of working time than the high atomization air cap.

Split Nozzle / V Slit Technology:

  • We have Straight nozzle and V Slit nozzle.
  • V slit shape is an Anest Iwata original design.
  • The slit cut nozzle creates an airflow similar to a tornado.
  • The slit cut technology creates high atomization.
Split Nozzle technology
  • High paint atomization efficiency sprays with low air pressure and low air consumption.
  • High atomization can achieve:
  • High quality paint surface finish.
  • Less overspray and paint cost savings.

Gun / Body Size:

We have three size gun bodies:

Choose the spray gun size depending on the work size.

Generally, you can spray with any size spray gun.
However, if you dont choose the correct gun size, you may not save on paint, and / or working time.
